Why couldn't you plumb in an electric solid state fuel pump in the line before the fuel filter. I have on in my series 3 diesel and if and when I want to prime it, I just turn the electric pump on until it purges the air out. When running the mechanical lift pump will pull the fuel through the electric pump. Also if the mechanical pump sh**s itself just switch the electric one on. I don't know how much fuel or pressure the puma needs to operate so not sure if it would work on a puma. I will find out though. Much cheaper than paying that sort of money for a priming tool.
