We just spent a couple of weeks dragging the caravan around. One of the key objectives was a visit to the Waterfall Way. If you don't have this one on your bucket list then I suggest you add it. Depending on your level of fitness set aside 3 days to a week to see what's there.

Here is one shot from the trip.

Thanks mowog! I've been wanting to do this little trip for a loooong time, but you know how it is - always too much going on. You have renewed my enthusiasm.

Now, if I can just finish building this 130....... :(

All I can say is just do it.

Here is a suggested route south as well. Not suitable for caravans.

Oh yeah - I love the Lions Rd. I have been going down that way since the mid eighties (when it was still mostly dirt!) so I am very familiar with it. I have friends with land just past Cougal. In a perfect world, that's where I'd be.

James.

Ok I have a Question for you about this road.

We are going to do a day drive over this road. I have a choice to make on the car to take on this run.

Assuming I stick to the sealed sections.

Would this road be ok in a 2009 Mini Cooper S? It says its sealed but how well. Considering the Mini has the suspension travel of a skate board.

It may well end up that we do a couple of drives one with the D4 and one with the Mini. I would like to get back into the unsealed National park sections as well which isn't ideal for the Mini.

Definitely the Cooper S :burnrubber:.

The road is sealed all of the way through from Innisplain to the Summerland Way. It is a bit bumpy in sections, but not worth taking a D4 for. I've done it in a variety of sporty cars (Austin Healey Sprite, Westfield Clubman, E30 BMW) and you just want to keep doing laps. I did take the E30 (17 inch wheels, lowered 2 inches, sway bars, etc) on road in to the national park and just took it easy, mainly to avoid stone chips. It was quite a good dirt road at the time. We haven't had a lot of rain over the past 6 months so I imagine if you wanted to venture into there in the Cooper it should be fine.

Not that I know of. All of the forest is National Park, so no biking :(. I have always wanted to do the Lions Rd on a road bike though. Who's keen? ;)

Ha! I'll stick a stubbie in my jersey pocket and splash a bit on the road every now and then so he gets the smell.

We went for a run over Lions Rd on the weekend. We took the D4 because we wanted explore a bit more.

I have a video of the run that I will put up on Youtube sometime in the near future.

I have suggested this a day drive for ClubMini some parts will pop tooth fillings in a Mini but thats part of the fun.
