About to fit a TJM winch bar I recently acquired off ebay.

It was off a 300 Tdi Defender and fits the county well.

My passenger side dumb iron and internal anti crush tubes are badly rusted at the front and will need a proper repair job done first.

My question is in regard to the fixings to the chassis/dumb irons.

Each side has provision for what may be 2 x 8mm bolts.

I intend to get high tensile bolts for the job but was wanting to know the general consensus about the suitability of just 2 x 8mm bolts per side for a fitting ( bullbar ) that may ultimately be used for difficult winch and snatch recoveries.

i haven't got my defer at work today but pretty sure my TLM bar has two bolts on the top of each chassis rail and than one on each chassis rail back under the car.......

Okay

My TJM ( I guess you meant to type TJM) only has the facility for the two bolts each side.

I have another heavier style bar that has the 2 bolt holes plus another further back on the chassis rail that bolts through where the tie downs were.

Was thinking of maybe welding a couple of tabs on to the TJM include the additional fixings.

The TJM has the auxiliary indicators fitted wheras the heavier style bar doesn't.
