Hi there,
some of you may have been following my posts a while back about my rebuild of my 1994 110 Defender. Well I've been quiet for quite a while cos we've been quite busy with one thing and another, the short story is that we are now in Australia, Nannup WA at the moment.

We arrived about seven weeks ago in Perth, we stayed in Fremantle whilst we went through the pain of importing Bluey. That took a month (!!!!!) then we were off.

So we are currently in Nannup for the night on our way to Pemberton. So if you see us on our way round the south west corner of WA please come and say hello, we'd love to see you!!

Welcome. Have fun. Also avoid spiders, particularly fat black ones in holes, little ones with red backs or those tiny white ones.

Welcome to Aust. :D

Treat all snakes as venomous until you can confidently identify them, and as said all and any spiders also, the "Huntsman" (the big hairy legged ones that move quickly, are timid, they can be ID-ed by the second set of legs being longer than the first.)

cheers

Hi Andy,

Welcome to WA. Whilst in Pemberton do take time to take the train (tram) to Warren River. A memorable train ride, I mean how many trains stop anywhere they like just so the driver can prune overhanging branches. Also worth going to Windy Harbour & stopping at Northcliffe tourist information centre to see the outdoor sculpture trail, some are truly huge & weigh tens of tons. How they got them up in the canopy is amazing. Before leaving for this trip stop at Pemberton trout farm to pick up a trout platter for lunch in Windy Harbour.

You should probably also do the Donnely River boat trip, they will pick you up in Pemberton.

Enjoy. Cheers Nigel

G`day and welcome to Oz. Just to make it easy on your self. Just regard all critters on land, in the water and flying as dangerous. No problems then. :) Just enjoy your stay.

It is rumoured that the Nannup Tiger and Pemberton Puma are alive and well. - as are the ubiquitous Bunyips... The Collie Cougar has'nt been heard from recently, so you could be lucky there...:p:p:p

That and the fact they are about 5 inches in diameter if you find one in the bush (yes, they jump off tree's) or about 3 inches for the ones that live in your letterbox at home.
They make great pets once trained and are a good replacement for a dog should you feel the need to leash one up and take it for a walk!

Collie cougars used to frequent the local pub, however these days its more the local bushpigs! :Rolling: :wasntme:

Oh, if you see a REALLY UGLY frog, its probably a cane toad. They make excellent golf practice (woods particularly), or can simply be mowed over, but hose the mower off afterwards or it may rust. Do not, under any circumstances, attempt to kill said cane toad with your bare hands or it may spray your eyes with poison, which is not fun...

Hi there again, finally stopped somewhere where we can get internet reception!

Thanks for the replies........we've already picked up a pet Huntsman from Honeymoon Pool, he lives in our Jet tent and only has seven legs but luckily is only the 4" type. I've also got an interesting selection of bugs on the front of Bluey and a host of bites on my legs and arms even though most park rangers we meet reckon there's no mossies.

Anyway we're now heading north from Albany on our way to Wave Rock. We got to Lake Grace and called a halt at the caravan park. Lucky we did as when I was checking oil levels and investigating a familiar power on vibration I found that the prop yoke at the rear axle end was buggered. I've already taken the prop off and the caravan park bloke is going to take me out to his sons farm so I can fit my spare yoke.

Looks like our stay here will be a day longer than planned!

At least I'm not laid on my back underneath Bluey in the pouring rain and cold in the UK!! I'm doing it in shorts and t-shirt and safety sandals!

Hi Andy - good to see you made it at last!

Are you doing a big lap of Australia (i.e. the tourist thing) or have you emigrated here?

Cheers

I have indeed emigrated here, this is a small tour before settling in Dubbo, NSW.

We will be visiting the big stone! We're going to head across on the central highway after visiting Esperance. From there we will head to Brisbane to visit relatives.
