Hi,

Can anyone recommend anywhere in the Dubbo or Parkes area of NSW to camp overnight?

I am travelling up to Brisbane on the 17th Jan in my Defender to pick up a Camper trailer we have had built.

I am travelling on my own and will be kipping overnight in my swag on the way up, I aim to be in Brisbane sometime mid morning on the 19th (or on the evening of the 18th if I do really well!)

Any othe suggestions on places to stay appreciated, as I have not driven from Geelong to Brisbane before.

Regards, Col.

I'm not sure if you're after a caravan park/camping ground or not but I've stayed at the Dubbo city holiday park a few times in the past and always found it to be clean and reasonably priced.. :)

Just north of Dubbo head nth west to Mendooran, the road picks up the Newell Hway at Coonabarabran, west of the police station on the river is a freecamp with toilet and cold shower :)

Hope this helps;)

Just a stones throw from Parkes is the Goobang National Park with a couple of nice camping spots.

Also, if you want to roam around a town a bit on the way, Parkes is a much nicer and safer town than Dubbo.
