Internode:

Well they have confirmed that its all A OK and that I can get the naked ADSL plan thingy hooked up.

I’m on holidays from next week so the booking for the techs to come out on the 24th was very suitable and meant I’d have the internet available for most of my holidays !

Then on Monday I got an SMS to say they’ve rebooked me for the 30th .

Not happy Jan as it means I’ll have a week with no internet, I have to rearrange so travel plans as I have to be there so they can access etc,

What really annoys me is they claim they have no control over the instals as its all done by 3rd party techs who dictate to THEM when they’ll do it.

Worse, they can’t even guarantee me that this new scheduled date will be correct. They say it is confirmed “as much as we can”. Which transpires to mean the same as it was confirmed for the 24th…

Funnily enough a lot of people have recommended Internode to me as a great provider with good customer service.

To their credit when I rang I got throuh quickly and spoke to an Australian, in English ! Very nice.

On the other hand, these instal dramas.

Sigh.

I had sucess with Internode for a few years then got stuck in the middle of an Internode/Telstra tussle when moving house :(.

I didn't lose out in the end but Internode lost me over it.

If Internodes process for NDSL is anything like iiNets then it will be almost definitely Telstra's WCTA department rescheduling the ULL cut over

I believe most of the time the reason for this is a service covered by CSG(Phone fault or New connection) is requested and the tech is reallocated to that bumping your ull app to the back of the queue

Internode were sold to iinet. That's the end of their good service. It happened to Westnet.

In the case of Internode it's alot different from the Westnet take over, Simon Hacket the "owner" of Internode stayed on as MD of the brand and took 7.5% of iiNet as part of the deal

The former owners of WN seemed to be looking for an out If it wasn't sold to iiNet it would have been sold to someone else TPG most likely and considering what happened when TPG took over soul it's probably a good thing iiNet got there first

Soul was screwed before tpg got any where near them, it was the old comindico network and it always sucked ;-)

Hehe

And only every third one at that :p

But many swear by them.

It is one of those brands that seems to get a lot of loyal customers....

Hmm, previous to this rescheduling interniode person did say they had checked to see if I couldf get the service and yes all A-OK from that point of view, but that it would need to be done as a new connection as there hadn;t been one there before. I demurred, saying that in fact the previous owners had just left, and cancelled their Telsta ADSL connection a week earkier. I hope they haven;t screwed that up as well.....

Thats odd,

If you've got a handset I'd connect it to the wall and dial 12722123 If it was a telstra land line as your comment suggests it should give you the number off that line. Internode should then be able to use this old number to locate the inplace for that address.

In terms of the checks they would have done it is quite likely they just checked the area to make sure it had available ports and said yes. Its not until someone goes to provision the order that lines are checked.

Have been with westnet for over 5 years now.
Every time I ring there tech section its always an aussie on the other end and if there's a cue, they even ring you back within 1/2 hour.
Didnt know they were sold to iinet, but I'll stay with them for now.
When they start giving me the blues I'll change. lol

cheers

They did some "initial" checks which are the ones you maybe referring to.
They then conducted some additional checks, confirmed they would definitely be able to instal for me, and then charged my card etc.

I beleive that I will get it put on... it's just a matter of when.

That number you said to dial, does that trick work without a dial tone?

Distortion
20th January 2012, 02:49 PM
Yeah the number requires a dialtone.

If you don't have a dialtone my guess is the Telstra line was disconnected some time ago or was possibly not a Telstra line(Optus/Primus) to begin with.

From experience Telstra will typically leave a line as is with a dialtone unless they are really short of lines in the area

my guess is they've seen the inplace connection tried to submit it on this and given you the date of the 24th, Telstras then turned around and said sorry that inplace isn't actually available you need a new line which will take another week.

Do you know if they have changed the costs at all because new lines are expensive so I'd definitely be double checking the figures they quote you now the dates changed and they are saying a new line is required.

VladTepes

Makes sense.
Nothing to indicate costs have changed at all.

This is very unfortunate but please dont be put off by initial dealings with Internode
I have been an Internode customer for over 10 years now and have never had any problems apart from when I went naked and that was 100% Telatra's fault

Stay away from TPG because you must wave all rights to a service level agreement otherwise they will not sign you up.

Also TPG monitor your dowloads, so if you like to down load TV shows and movies they will warn you once then suspend your account and report you to the federal police

if it sound too good to be true...

Yeah - the rescheduling is Telstra. A Telstra tech has to re-patch your line at the exchange from a Testra D-SLAM to the Internode one. Internode can't do this, only Telstra.

When Internode check your line, they are making sure that there is an Internode D-SLAM at your exchange and that it isn't full.

Why do they need access to your house?

Another happy internode customer here. I have had several reasons to use the internode support desk over the years, and everytime I have experienced excellent service willing to go way beyond their brief. My most recent experience was just 2 days ago, so no evidence to me of any diminished customer service post sale yet. Its been so much better than past experiences where I have had to take both tesltra and optus complaints to the telecommunications ombudsmen.

Disgruntled Internode customer here. Been with them just over 6 years. Prices are high, download cap is low, no ADSL2+ available in my area (Preston) unless I want to pay some stupid price for Naked DSL. Last ~6 months have been the worst. I get days where the net just disconnects quite literally every 5 mintues for hours on end, sometimes it happens a few days in a row. Internode keep trying to blame it my side of the connection, things interfering, etc, nothing in the house changed. I did their overnight connection trial, came back without errors, but suspiciously every time after I contact customer service the connection comes good for a while. I've recently bought a new line filter and router, same issues. Apart from the last ~6 months the service was flawless.

I was thinking of moving to TPG until I saw horaceOz's post. It's just trying to collect all the places I gave out my Internode email to over the last 6 years so I can update it.

I was with internode for many years. The quality of service was great, but I ended up changing due to the high cost of the service. Despite my reservations, I decided to give Dodo a try, as there was no lock in contract. To my surprise, they were fine!

My sister recently connected with TPG, and she's had no problems either (also to my surprise!). She downloads a fair bit too.

Hard to judge an ISP these days, just gotta 'suck and see' I spose.

I've used them since 2006 and found they are very good - your case sounds like an unusual glitch. Still frustrating I know but you should be happy with them once you're up and running.

I dropped Internode because they cut my 200gb plan back to 100gb and charged me the same money.....

I now have a bundled 500gb Telstra account.
