My latest batch of photos from Rainbow Beach have black corners.
E.g in this photo of a Rainbow Beach Car Wash victim you can see blackness bleeding in from each corner.

2012-01-07 Rainbow 2012 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/djhampson/6722704749/)
It was taken with an Olympus E-420, Olympus Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 lens and a polarizing filter.
Could it be the filter? I haven't seen this problem before and I've used the filter a lot. I didn't notice the black corners until I got the photos up on the computer at home so I haven't played around with it yet.
Any ideas?

Dave,
That pic is at 14mm. I had a look at some of your other pics and at narrower focal lengths there's no problem. Lens hood or the filter isn't suitable for 14mm would be my guess.
FYI for my 10mm I need an adaptor for my Lee filter to ensure this problem doesn't occur.

It can also happen with a lens hood that is normally satisfactory on a particular lens if you add a filter between the lens and the hood so that the hood is further from the lens than it was designed to be.
Don't ask how I know this.

It's called vignetting

Thanks all, I'll have to have a play and see what I changed because I haven't noticed this before.

Did you leave your UV filter on as well as the Polariser?
Cheers, Steve

How did you get to see it? I logged into Flickr but it told me the pic is private and I don't have permission to view it.

Aha. Thanks David. I'm glad I wasn't the 4WD owner!
At least with that pic, you can crop most of the vignetting.
P.S. I love the fact that Flickr says under "David Hampson" - No real name given.

That photo could be used on the cover of "Beach driving for Dummies" :p
