It's hard to believe that Kodak have filed under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Why - they were a dinosaur that failed to move with the times, hanging onto old technology and when they did move into the digital age they made poor products and later even missed the mark in that area.

They should be allowed to fade away.

I must confess I was hardly suprised, in fact the cartton, above, somes it up nicely.

Kodak seemed determined to position itself at the bottom end of the market, going for the cheap and nasty digital snap happys. Sure, it worked for them in film, but in digital it left them vulnerable to the Asian competition.

One wonders if they would be in this position if they had gone for some premium products their customers could grow into. Like many I went from Kodak to (in my case) Canon. If Kodak had an upgrade path it already had me as a happy customer...

Regrettably, one blames the company as a whole when, in reality, it was probably poor management decisions.

Amazing to think that Kodak invented the digital camera in 1975!
