Hi All, thought I would take my new purchase away for a test drive off road, all was good, lights for the above go thru the check and go off, as soon as you push the hill desent it pings 3 times indicating fault in system but no error light comes on dash, no HDC and no TC works, what could this mean, ABS is working ok.
cheers

G'Day, the the 3 pings are normal, that is indicating that you have activated it !, does the HDC light come on in the upper left corner ? if not your globe may be blown ? there is no other way knowing its on except while going down hill if the vehicle starte to over-run it will control it, and you will see yout TC light go ON / OFF when ever it needs to control traction !
I'm sure there are many more technical people on here that can explain that better or correct me if im wrong?
The other thing that may be happening is I have read that to SELL or PASS ROADWORTHYS some shonky dealers and or privrate sellers either remove the globes or cover the holes with black paper behind the barnicle/cluster to make it look like there is no fault !?!? In this case you will think ABS, TC and HDC is working untill you need it and it does not operatie ? If this is thecase you will need to read the huge amount of info on the "3 Amigo's"
Good luck!

HDC only works in Low ratio, of course. If you try it in High you will get three pings...

thanks guys, both lights come on at start up and indicate no faults, when I'm in low range and press HDC I get 3 pings which according to manual indicates system fault, no HDC light flashes and also TC does not activate on wheel slippage as my front N/S wheel was off the ground and spinning wildly, TC light also does not light

It is possible someone has connected the lights to say oil or mil light so they appear to function
I would get my fault codes read as next step
(I bought a cheapy - Maxiscan - for about $50 which reads basic codes but won't reset LR specific ones)

thanks for replies, that is an interesting idea D2Andrew I could remove oil pressure switch connection and see what happens, can anyone advise where this would be, also andrew what do u mean by mil, I did observe when i removed the abs wiring harness no warning lights came on, that was a bit strange also, even when i removed the abs fuse no warning lights came on either.
cheers Ken

mil is the amber engine warning light
oil pressure switch is next to water pump (driver's side)

You could always buy the Rave manual here: Dave's Interesting Things (http://www.davesitshop.com/davesitshop/index.php?_a=viewCat&catId=1)
The income goes to support the running of AULRO......

oops, sorry Bytemrk - I'll recommend that in future
As a newbie here I'm still finding my way around
eg I did a search for 'RAVE' across all of Aulro but of course too many hits and all I could see was references to the content in Rave

I wouldn't worry about that...plenty of us that have been about for a while are still learning :D

By an odd coincidence, I took my D2a that I have had for almost a year for its first real off road test on the weekend to Craig's Hut.
Very impressed. And I confirm that the three bings are when its selected OFF.

Here is a copy of an earlier post last year, maybe this is my problem

Well today we found the problem and fixed it:MileStone:
It turns out that they had been turned off:eek: only conclusion we can come to is, when we have been swapping files to upgrade the power of the car, somehow they have been turned off:confused:
Anyway, via the Nanocom and a laptop and Kerry:TakeABow: we turned them back on and we now have TC and HDC back

If you know someone with a Nanocom, they can check your warning lamps one at a time.
