East Melbourne steel suppliers

Hi All

I have recently purchased myself a new toy, a Cigweld 200 Transmig. It mainly to knock together a rear bar, improve my rock sliders and do a few rust panel jobs on the rangie. However, first job off the rank is a solid welding table come work table.

The plan is solid 40x40 square tube legs, 30x30 braces, round bar for hanging clamps etc, round holsters for the mig gun and a whopping big 5-6 mm plate top. Im thinking making it 1200x900 and 900 high.

Now, to the point...Does anyone know any good steel suppliers in East Melbourne that cut to size? I have found a few that do pipe and other bits to size, however not one that can cut the 6mm plate to the right size. I want to a find a place that can do all of this and deliver it to me!:D Mainly cause that plate top is going to weigh a ton!

Anyone got somewhere they can suggest?

They do off cuts and second hand stuff at scrap prices.

They have a list of their stock on their website but they have other stuff come in daily so best to call them or call in.

There's a place on Hallam Road, Hallam just near the railway station (on the left as you go down the hill from the Hallam pub) that cut to size and their prices are good, can't remember the name of the company.

Yeah Ive seen these guys. They do online ordering and cut pipe to size, but only sell large plate formats and don't offer an option to cut to size.

Thanks Kev. Found this lot online as well and they seem to cover everything. Are they ok with smaller batch buys though? Look like they are orientated to big construction...

They are happy to do small orders and even one offs. I've bought everything from just 1 metre of pipe to walking in with a list of stuff i needed for my trailer cut and folded and its always done promptly
