Hi there all

Well some of you may have seen my recent purchase 122803316.....

Original started its working life in Woomera in 1958 doing fire fighting duties, its fitted with a 250 gpm PTO driven rear pump.

I am now starting the refurbishment of this vehicle as its in to good of original condition to restore.......

This is where the problem is I am looking for a fire hose reel and have exhausted all my contacts.

I would have normally put it in the market secton but there is not alot of headings/titles which list "HOSE REELS", and know series vehciles owners are some times well known for driving/walking around viewing the odd ball items.

If anyone can help please let me know

Wayne,
I know you are tight for room there,
In an act of outstanding generosity I can make room in my shed to "look after" one of the completed tenders if you'd like??

(Strewth I'm a nice bloke! :) :) )

as you said when you first told me,its far too nice to redo, just refurbish and replace as necessary (and alongside your others it will also be a great example!-- as I said previously also, I'm surprised they weren't all called for for the recent Local town and surrounds fires!!

<<<EDIT:- replaced town name with "local town" for security reasons>>>

Hi Wayne
There is a few museum's on the Yorke Peninsula that have old fire trucks but not land rovers and lots of equipment that may be what you are looking for.
I don't have a phone number for any of them but i went into one a while ago and they had a lot gear it maybe for sale but I'm not sure.

I was just thinking about your original hose reel acquisition problem and the possibilities of building a replica.

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/02/1253.jpg

The reel looks to be cast aluminium, would it be possible for someone with a bent along those lines to sand cast the two ends in aluminium and then join them up with a section of aluminium pipe?

The same with the support frame?

Chazza used to cast up some nice bits for other S1 parts, he may be able to advise the logistics of it all.

I've got an idea, we pop over here

I keep them distracted and you unbolt it!

No that wouldn't be very nice and I didn't say it!

Diana :wasntme:

Have you got any contacts in the UK who may be able to track some down?

I have just been to look at Bob's S2A fire-engine and his reel looks much like this one - is it the same Wayne?

It didn't look too hard a proposition to make one,

Chazza

This is the reel on the SME SIIa fire engine so it is a little different to the one on Wayne's S1, but I don't have any other images.

Sorry its hidden up the rear of the photo.

Here is the other design

It doesn't look too complicated but it would be rather time consuming to make.

Bob's one has a rolled cylinder in the middle, which has been welded along the seam - I didn't check to see if it was steel or aluminium,

Hi there Chazza

I have just been to look at Bob's S2A fire-engine and his reel looks much like this one - is it the same Wayne?

They are all very simular to that - I can get plenty which are gear/electrical driven but seem to be having trouble locating an old manual hose reel.

There is plenty in the UK - but freight costs are harsh.

Ps - Chazza had a couple of chats with Bob he seems like a great bloke.

Thanks

Wayne
