Are you using a Land Rover 4BD1-T engine? If not you will have to find a Land Rover LT85-4BD1 bellhousing and Isuzu-Land Rover flywheel housing. I would imagine that these items are rare in South Africa as the Land Rover 4BD1 was an Australia Only specification.
You would likely be better off going with one of "The Grubb"s Isusu MSA conversions and use the far stronger Isuzu truck gearbox. See: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/isuzu-landy-enthusiasts-section/90033-isuzu-msa-gearbox-lt230.html
In relation to the conversion from V8, I am doing the same conversion during a Defender re-assembly. The main thing is that you will have to remove the current V8 engine mount brackets on the chassis and fit the isuzu mounts further forward.

Not very. They come up from time to time for sale though.
Your best option would be to use an isuzu engine and gearbox, and buy an adaptor from The Grubb to mate to your LT230.
