freelander starting problem

Hi, recently ive been expericing some troubling starting problems on my freelander.
there is ignition but the engine fails to idle and usually will completly die.
ive found a youtube video which is pretty much exactly what i am experiencing, the link is here:

in the comments it said that the engine had to be replaced?, hopefully its not that severe.

any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a IAC (idle air control) valve problem. They get gummed up after a while. You will need to clean it. If no improvement after a clean it will need replacing.
