Wondering if anyone has the cure for water dripping in the top front corner of both front doors when pouring with rain or has been? Is it the rubber seals on the long thin view window? or is it coming from the roof?

Cheers.

Run a bit of silly stick (silastic) around the guttering where the roof gutter wraps around over the windscreen. This solved mine. The water in mine tended to get from there through the top seal of the door, then ran inside the door and dripped on the floor.

check all of the side gutters for any splitting of sealant , esp. around roof racks if fitted -you may have to remove to check. Water can travel alongway from where it's getting in.
Depending on sealant condition is best to remove all & re-seal with quality sealant

Any recommendations on the sealant? Something that is relatively easy to get a hold of?

Thanks!

Hi Crabman,

I've got the same issue in my Puma 110. Driver's side only. i've never noticed it while it's raining but its once it's rained and then I drive, water starts to drip on my arm....so it's not quite at the top front corner but I suspect it's part of the same issue.

Two things to consider here.

1. Check for cracks in the seals right back to the roof crease - where the roof starts pointing at a downward angle from the top horizontal...and along the sides of the roof gutter.
2. LR tightened-up and shifted the driver's door making it harder to close but it's a tighter seal and this seems to have stopped the ingress entirely.

I hope this helps mate. Let me know how you go! I originally found water on the floor and told LR that I could see it coming in the top of the door....so the leak in the door was fixed but then I found water on the floor after the next storm....so they looked and found a leak coming from the windscreen/ firewall area and playing havoc with the alarm....and guess what.....the car's out of warranty so LRA are currently debating whether to fix it.

I can feel a polite but firm letter coming on...!

Take the roof off and just enjoy the rain!?!
Not helpful I know lol.
Refer to the Aulro link and get busy with the sikaflex

I used sika-flex cann't recall which one was 4 yrs ago-pay's to run some masking tape along roof to keep things nice
Don't know 'bout new defender's but my roof's built like a serie's - the gutter is like a u section with roof attached to center of u & sealed with some pommy crap at join (don't think it was test for aust. temps) , any water that penetrates join is then channelled along an inside gutter tending to exit at front when under brakes or sloping downhill

Truly? So the external and internal gutters are one piece and the roof is a separate piece fixed down on top of and in the centre of the gutter. There are two internal gutters. i've had my roof lining out for months trying to find that damned leak and I've sealed up every concealable join in the roof except for the external gutters which was my next bet. If what you say is correct you are my saviour!!!! I'll try sealing the gutters and say thank you in advance Brett!
cheers Gerald

Natt, i'll pulled off the hinge covers under the windscreen and resealed them and that slowed the water down a lot. The same thing used to happen to me but it was both feet. The front vents also leak so it would be worth looking at the seals underneath them. simply pull out the pins and fold the vents forward to look at the seals.
cheers Gerald

Crabman, those windows are referred to as Alpine windows and I have no idea why :)

Most of the times the problem is seal between firewall and windshield.
The seal is water porous, it sucks water in like cloth.
I cut original seal to get enough space and then used Sika Flex to seal.

Have fun with it!

Yeah, I've also tried to seal that one up just by smearing sikaflex over the top of it but it didn't make much difference; it's a stupid design isn't it?!!!!
