Catching up with friends

Gday All,

caught up with some friends I haven't seen for ages today, but sadly it was at a funeral service :(, and what's even sadder is my wife and I are off to cairns to another funeral of a close friend on monday..:(:(

I dare say will catch up with plenty of fishing friends there..

I remember dad saying that he used to get invited to weddings when he was younger, but then when he got older the only invites he got were to funerals..

Not looking forward to monday:(:(:(

Chin up mate! At 53 years old I feel the same way - most of my old Navy mates from my 20's have passed due to industrial diseases (Asbestosis etc) and at times, I dread opening sombre emails or letters.
However, my health is great (Just touched my wooden head ;)) and life is better day by day.

Take some time after the sadness of your Cairns trip to enjoy a drive up to Mosman/Pt Douglas. The coastal views are fantastic!

My last and only friend died last November.
Old age takes its toll, eh.

Unfortunately, it's a fact of life, about the only way we have been meeting distant rellies is at funerals . But hey! It just makes every day we wake up that much better, since I turned 60, we've been doing things that we would not have years ago, because " it costs too much, I don't want to get out of my comfort zone, etc, etc. " I too have lost more mates than I care to remember from service related diseases, so live life to the full, as much as you can, and remember the old fart warcry, " adventure BEFORE dementia".
