View Full Version : It's a Sad Day

I don't say much on this forum, just spend a lot of time lurking, soaking in Landy information from the unbelievable amount of knowledge that lives here.
I've loved my '96 discovery from the second I bought her, she's taken me on holidays, up impossible tracks, over massive sand dunes, through endless bog holes and reliably to and from my work very rarely skipping a beat. Whenever anything went wrong (let's face it; she is a Land Rover) I scoured this site for a cure, usually coming away happy. When her engine got tired I read through all the information on here and - based on other peoples' experiences - ended up building up an awesome 4.6L. Probably the best mod I've ever done to any car.
Unfortunately workload - and an expense paid company car - have meant that she pretty much spends most of her time in the garage, looking at me whenever I venture in and making me feel guilty; I haven't had her on a track for over 9 months and haven't even managed to put 10,000km on the new engine.
Anyway, my point is that I've decided to sell her so she's not wasted any more. Landies are made for bush, sand and mud, not garages. Still brings a tear to my eye though.
I just wanted to thank all the people on here that have guided me - albeit unknowingly - through building and looking after her. This is a great forum you have here guys, make sure you keep it the way it is.

Hey
I agree its a sad day, but you don't have to leave the forum though!

(or is it just the way it appears from your post?)

Vehicles can be like woman and marriage, but don't worry when the company car goes you will find another landie to replace this one.
Remember it only hurts for a little while. and as digger say stay around .

I'm in a similar boat - I have a company car (Not an expensive one though:p) and the old Rangie is just my weekend car. I would never dream of selling it although I may only drive it once every couple of months...

Don't sell the Disco mate - you may live to regret it. Even if you just take it down the shops on the weekend to get the oil circulating, and then out to the bush when you can, and, even if you do sell it, as Digger said - you don't have to leave the forum:).

Well sorry to hear the Disco is going.
I can recall making a similar decision, only to find myself back a few years later.

Yep, sell it. But you'll never be cured!:p:D
