I have come across a very straight and original lwb hard top that I am told was originally a parks service vehicle here in Tassie.

It is a beautiful faded blue, which looks like original paint. Ivory roof.

I can't recall seeing a blue one in Australia before - is it likely to be an import?

Thanks

Roger

Hi Roger

I bet there are more clues to be found, but if you can get the chassis and engine numbers that would help.

I happen to have a good, blue speedo panel at the moment with lights, some wiring, the two gauges and the speedo.

What end of the island is it, Boags or Cascade ?

For those who don't know, the war of independence is still being fought here in Tasmania.
The looser will have to travel to the other end to watch their footy.

There is a thread on Navy Landies (link below), most of the pics are B&W but post 17 shows (among other things) a blue Inter truck. There is also some actual colour pics posted somewhere, but I cannot find them ATM.

Great pics - thanks

That could be the colour. Were they painted here or was it. Special factory order?

info on the ex-Navy Landies is fairly hard to come by, so anything you can ad would be very welcome. Particularly pics and a chassis number. Paint colour was an Aus thing IIRC.

Not an S2 (it's my new purchase S1) but might be similar colour so maybe related to the Navy? I'm trying to find out a bit about the why's and wherefor's of "Flash"'s colour.

Hmmm. The photo in my garage makes it look grey. It's actually a pale and very faded blue. Here's the photo from the eBay ad that shows the colour a bit better:

It'd be interesting to find out the colour goes back to Navy colours. Anyone know whether the Navy had S1's in blue? It's unusual for an S1 to have the fancy chrome wheel trims, so wondering if maybe used for special occasions and parades and such like??
Sorry for the threadjack. Just seemed related enough, but I'm happy to delete the post if you prefer.
Cheers

John

Your blue is more like the one I have seen than the Navy colour in Paul's pics.

Will look up my books and see if there is a reference to it.

That blue was one of the colour option's in the UK from about when the 86" was first produced.

The inside of the panel I have here, is blue and that is it's original colour.

Marine Blue. Not sure when it was introduced as a colour, nor if it was only Home Market or not, but there seems to be many more in that colour in the UK and Europe. I have a '67 6cyl 12-seat station wagon in that colour, and it is a Home Market chassis.
