Unwanted popups.

Hi all, is anyone else getting popups requesting contact? Apparently Stephanie lives 2.8 miles from me and wants to meet. I assume a scam etc. How do these get on this site? The same request popped up elsewhere once before, so is the problem with this site or with my computer? The popup fits neatly into the header bar. Hope someone can help. Cheers, 130man.

Actually, that's true. I had watched a programme (X-Rated Ambition - The Traci Lords Story) on TV about Traci Lords and was following up on some of the stuff raised in that programme. (My wife and I wondered if that programme could be shown on US TV - there was no pixellation of anything shown! :) )

Yup.. it's not from this site.. as said above it's from other sites that your computer has visited.. when you visit the other sites all they do is look up the location of the node your IP belongs to from commercially available databases. Because your web browser transmits your IP address with each webpage request it's a piece of cake them to do it... run a scan and see if it finds it for you.. :)

Being under 18 was, I think, only an issue in the USA. Do you recall the Australian Penthouse mag of 1985 which had a mother/daughter photoshoot. The daughter was only 16. It was legal here, illegal in the USA.

(I just did a Google search and the pics are there on the Australian Penthouse website. Probably still child porn in the USA. Interesting the website says 1987 but the cover photo on another website shows March 1985))

What I watched was a TV doco on Bio.(pay TV channel) on her and how her being under age nearly killed the US adult movie industry. It was surprising how much they did show, even of her work when she was 16 yo.

What stopped a lot of the prosecutions was the fact that the US Govt. had issued a passport to Traci using the same fake ID she'd given to her agent.

I have run a scan to no effect but I contacted my local Computer Repairer who hosts the web site I run and he assures me they are not a problem if I don't click on them. Mostly a dating service, apparently. He also says they are often paid-for ads that sit on sites and follow IP addresses as Sue suggested. Cheers, 130man.

How does Steph know where I live? I did a search around the district yesterday, and in my eagerness I extended the radius to 3 miles to no avail:(
I only have about 20 neighbors within that radius, and Stephanie isn't one of them. She must live in a tree or a wombat hole, or in a time warp,cos who measures distance in miles these days anyway?

I'm starting to track Stephanie down! I noticed she's been 2.8kms from me when I'm at work and she's still 2.8kms from me now I'm at home. I'm going to watch the PC like hawk until I see her distance start to move and then I'll jump in the car and drive like hell to catch up with her:twisted:.
