Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone had fitted or considered fitting one of these Ashcroft 5 Speed Kits, it uses a LT77 gearbox and the Series Transfer case. You can use the LT 230 transfer case but it is not my prefered option.

Ashcroft Transmissions - Series 5 speed kits (http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=83)

I would like to know what are the Pros and Cons , and is it worth it.

Thanks Jeff

You lose your ability to have a rear PTO output for a winch etc.

Losing the ability to have a PTO does not worry me, I just really like the idea of a five speed box. I was just hoping someone on here may have put one in or know of some one in the UK that has fitted one.

I read in one of the LR mags I get. It's quite easy if you can find a short bellhousing and box out of a 2.5 fender bolt the ashcroft conversion on shift the engine mounts forward 100mm I think. You have to use the series trans box cause of no cv's in the front diff I have wondered if the fender axles fit the series diff. To me it would be good to have a 5 speed. Cost wise hard to say cost me $2500 for an overdrive. Are there many 2.5 fenders around being wrecked?
