Hi Forumites,
Who retails GG tyres in WA? I've checked with the search tool I can't find a suitable thread, please and thank you. I have 265 X60x 18 which GG don't seem to do, the closest I can find is 255 x 60 x 18 which is 12 mm in dia smaller, 6mm on radius.
Having a dual wheel carrier I'm up for six tyres if I have to change them all. I have Cooper HT plus on at the moment and I just don't like them, on road brilliant, off road not so flash.
Is there any reasonable way out of this? The Coopers have been used for about 10,000 klms so I don't really want to just throw them out.

I emailed them and they put me onto TyrePower Belmont. I suppose any TyrePower store will be a dealer. I haven't yet contacted TyrePower to find out for myself though.

Hi Nomad9,

Try Bridgestone Select Malaga (08 9249 9744) - Allen.

I got 2 x 255/60/R18 for $299 each including fit/balance in Sept. 2011.

I just ordered a set of 20 inch 295/45 XL GG's from Tire rack in the US.
$926 AUD delivered to my door.
To put it in perspective equivalent tyre in Perth is $490 each.
Might be worth looking at 2 deliveries so you are under the $1000 for import duty if you are buying 6.
Every time I have ordered they have been here in less than 2 weeks from the US.
So allowing on average $200 to fit and balance I have saved around $800.00
My GG 18's were even less when I bought them 2 years ago for offroad duties

Tarmac Tyres...? And were they from Mac @ Tyre Rack? What do you have for ATR or off-road?

I'd be worried about the cranky tyre fitters when you ask them to fit tyres you bought overseas... :o

I deal with Rudy at Tire rack and have for a few years.
These ones are 295/45 R20 for daily duties in UHP XL rated.
I have 255/65 R18 AT General Grabbers for offroad fun

Why??? This is the 5th set of tyres I have imported.
$25/ tyre to strip, fit and balance at Bob Jane of all places.
I had quite a long conversation with the franchise owner when I dropped off this morning.
Yeah he is crabby but not at me. General Grabber couldn't get me these tyres for a month and the shop didn't even have a listing for the size.
So all up Tyres + Freight + Bank fee for Wire transfer + fitting = $965 AUD
The Owner at the Bob Jane pointed out that there is nothing they can do about it until wholesalers in Australia wake up to their ridiculous pricing structure, but in the meantime why knock back $100?

Based on my sisters tyre store mark up.....Bob Jane is making big dollars from each tyre. Sure the wholesalers make a few dollars on each but the tyre stores are making much more.
I gave an example in a previous post for my tyres. She gets them in at $250 each and sells them for $510. My local guy sells them for $360. Fleecing and gouging.
But for only a $100 saving on purchase of that scale, I would go with an Australian business, and not import....just my opinion.

No I didn't save $100 I saved over $1100 - I meant Bob Jane has made $100 out of me to fit the tyres so why wouldn't he fit them.
You are correct for even $200 difference I would buy local but over $1,000 saving I think it is well worth it.

I got 5 GG AT's fitted etc. for about $1300 from a Jax dealer. Was happy with price and service but the tyres are not meeting the expectations I had based on posts on this forum.
Have done 23k on them so far. Noisy - my mate who drives a jeep thought gearbox was shot when he borrowed the car. Crap in the wet. My main offroad is sand with very occasional gravel road that is a bit rough - spends most of the time around Brisbane The tyres have lots a chips out of the side walls.
Mine were made in Czech Republic (nothing against CZ - my missus is from there) - maybe that makes a difference.
Apologies for brevity, phone isn't great for this. Will post some photos later.
BTW. At 23k still about 50% left - better than the OEW Wranglers that were dead at 33k.

I got four General Grabber LT tyres through Bob Jane TMart in Hobart.
$290 ea. inc. fitting in November last year.
Noticed the AT tyres advertised as a new line in their catalogue delivered in the mail last week. Cannot remember the cost but I dont remember their being expensive.
Could be available at Bob Jane Perth.(assuming there is one)

Just got 5 GG AT 255x55/R19 From Tyrepower in Camberwell. I concur with the many posts on AULRO about Michael and Sam. Fantastic service, really nice guys and good pricing. Highly recommended. $285 per tyre including wheel alignment. The D4 looks great, rides softer than the clapped out original tyres (53k), no more noise and now has the possibility of doing some mud work. At more than $150 cheaper per tyre than Cooper LTZ is was an easy decision. Will let you know how they wear with km.

Well after having them fitted up for a week, I am very happy with these GG's.
Quiet, handle well etc.
