Hi people
sorry to do this to you all. I know there are a few threads relating to LED trailer caravan lights but do not wish to hijack.
We have a MY12 2011 D4 which we have had 3 months only just cracked 1500kms in it so felt the time was right to attempt a tow with car trailer. Purchased the necessary trailer plug adapter with little lED test lights. When testing the lights out the electric trailer brakes would have applied if the trailer had electric brakes. We have yet to have our brake controller fitted so i can rule out a wiring fault. Has anyone else come across this?
I will however plug the caravan in to the D4 in the coming days after i have moved the falcon and trailer.
Cheers and thanks
Steve

As wired the Discos have separate power to left and right taillights. The Australian system has one power feed to both tail lights on one pin and the other is reserved for the brake controller . If left unmodified, one of the tail light feeds to the pin reserved for trailer brakes (due to the Aust trailer wiring system) and the other tail light feed supplies power to both tail lights.

Have a look at this thread http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/...er-brakes.html (http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/97935-d4-electric-trailer-brakes.html). The wire to be cut is behind/below the left tail-light cluster.

If whoever installs the brake controller knows what they are doing or reads the thread it will be sorted out then.

You need to read other posts about LED indicator lights on the trailer if you have them as well. If trailer has normal globes then you are OK.

Looks like I am the first one home today!
Regards
Gerry
