Heya all,
Dunno if there is a more appropiate section to post this in?
Thought I'd ask who you use to insure your beloved Landy?
I have a 300tdi Defender which I love. The insurance companies dont understand :o . I will be going around Aus wen my time is done (Appreno). Shannons don't cover you as the car is not gararged at a fixed address! Plus they were the most expensive! Comm insurence don't cover you if you are off the beaten track (trails, paths, beaches etc!)! / offroad!
They are a pack of weazles! If you don't ask the question, they won't tell you!
So who do you use?
Is there a company out there that are like Shannons say they are for an adventurer with a 4wd?
Cheers in advance.

I've no idea what they are like but a quick google search found this..
DGA Insurance Brokers (http://www.dgainsurance.com.au/4wd.htm)
I'm with Allianz and for an 'extra premium' they will cover most off road stuff.. :)
Just had a look and it's also for Allianz.. :)

not at a fixed address? dont you live somewhere permanent? I'm insured with NRMA and it doesnt matter where I'm travelling as long as I'm not in any form of competition.

Check out TCIS. They specialise in 4WD insurance and seem to understand what they're talking about. From what I can tell their off road coverage is well thought out.
TCIS Insurance Brokers | Commercial Business Insurance | 4WD Vehicles | Home and Content Insurance - (Powered by CubeCart) (http://www.tcis.com.au)
I've used them for the last three years and have found them good, although I've not had a claim. Also insure the camping gear with them.

That really surprises me as my 90 was/ is insured with them when we went around Australia for 8 months.
I have had nothing but good service from them. Even had to use their help when a car t bone my wife in the 110 and I could not be happier with their service.
Personally I have not always gone for the cheapest quotes because when you need them that is when you find out why they were cheap.

"we" fixed your problem by having a "sticky" for insurance in the D2 Forum. rates may be different 4 you but what the policy covers shouldnt change

Same with me for YOUI. Anywhere except 4WD Parks & competition, and as long as the vehicle is being used in a manner intended by the manufacturer.

I'm happy so far with Shannon's. Haven't made a claim with them mind you. I was happy with the last lot for over ten years no claim but when I had an economical write off they paid me out and sent me packing!

I am also with APIA and rang yesterday to confirm a few details. I am covered everywhere in OZ except private property where I don't have permission ie if I'm trespassing.
Snorkel was fine and I was assured I can fit an electronic/map chip, however but not otherwise modify the engine, exhaust or transmission/suspension eg no putting in a lift or bigger exhaust. Forgot to ask about a larger intercooler or transmission cooler, boost box or larger tyres, but assuming tyres fit under standard suspension they should be no probs (in the west anyway).
Technically that means no ERG blankoff (I know I can disguise that) or removing cat exhaust - uumm!

I'm with shannons, but I've only made a claim with my other car.
They didn't seem to mind any modification (as long as it was legal) but made me list them all (took me AGES ahaha ended up standing in the garage next to it going from front to back listing them all.
..He kept saying "anything that was not original equipment must be listed on the policy"!

Im not after the cheapest, but shannons will not cover me when I travel around Aus! Even tho I my mail will be sent to my home! This was all made crystle clear. Shannons will cover you if you keep your Landy at home nice and safe, but if ur an adventurer like my self ur not covered. Shannon's also would not cover my Landy for what its worth in a land rover nuts eyes! Alot of em wont cover you if you are off road either.
Ill shop around and do my home work. Thanks a million for the leeds so far. Will post my findings.
Do your home work and know what u are covered for!
