OK, the trick is you have to share it with 10 000 people, but the aim is not to simply divide the money but to create or do something to the benefit of those involved...

What the hell is this guy on about?!

Let me start by saying that I share the frustration and moral dilemma most of us face with keeping the dollars here vs. 50% savings in getting it abroad!
Surely there is something we could do about this rather than just complain or suck it up?

AULRO trust? The forum and community is great and information sharing should be free; I'm not suggesting in anyway that we should introduce a subscription or membership fee; but what if every member (over 10 000 at present) 'donates' $1 a month or even $10 a month...
Could we not in some clever way use that to 'subsidise' freight to our members or even better help fund a local startup business to manufacture the accessories we want

Failing that, I'm sure we can arrange a huge landrover party at the end of the year...

 What the, for starters you have not even raised enough to pay for the administration at $1 per person per year.

So we get a producer started, $10,000, hum, maybe a couple of months rent on a factory after lease fees.

Mate, get a public company going send us a prospectus and we might buy shares.

Good luck trying to be competitive against countries that do not have our compliance fees, labour costs etc etc.

Keep thinking, nothing starts without an idea.:D

All I'm saying is surely there is power in numbers, just like guys doing group buys for a better price; sharing the cost of containers from the UK for example.

anyway just a thought, not asking for anyone's hard earned cash...

We were all 8 posters at one stage - I don't think he is after our hard earned, just putting a point of view out there.

I get whats hes aiming for and have seen something similar done before, a few guys who were regular drinkers and dart players had a "fund" down at the local pub they put the odments change and paid themselves a dollar around for darts and put it all on the fund at the bar, once a month they would have their spouses over for a free lunch/dinner on the premise that the boys were such good customers.

I think his aim is to have a small fund setup so that once every 3 months or so it pays for a shipping containter to move from england or america to here. getting the stuff to the contianer in either location and then picking it up from the container would be the problem...

But as the site already has a subscribers option.... and then you'd have to manage it.

ok I wont be so harsh now . To do this requires establishing a co-operative or community trust fund. The law and logistics behind either of these set-ups is rather awesome. I have a set of rules and guidelines for establishing a c0-0p and believe me the govt doesnt make it easy.....or simple.

Hmm!! basically, in theory the idea is good.!!!:D But to carry it out in fairness to all Forum members would be logistically extremely hard!!;)
