Hello,
Has anyone got any tips on adjusting the cdl linkage on my 2001 130.
I have just completed gbox overhaul and cannot seem to find the sweet spot for the lever to both engage and disengage the cdl. I can get it to engage but when i attempt to disengage there seems to be to much flex on the linkage bar. Has anyone experimented with stiffening this part?
I replaced o rings on actuator arm on tfer box, maybe new ones to tight and not allowing poorly designed linkage to work ?

Apart from this I am very happy with results of rebuild, hard job but very satisfying to complete myself.

Try doing the top small bolt and nut on the CDL arm up tight (7mm and 8mm spanner req), then loosen just enough to allow ease of movement. Also, did you push the outer selector ring with the inner spline for the hi lo rod on enough? Try loosening the pinch bolt and pushing it further onto the spline. This will allow less lateral movement of the CDL inner rod before it pushes or pulls on the link and thereby increasing its effectiveness.

Yes I know what you mean I did have to push the hi/lo linkage onto the spline further as initially i thought that was the problem. When pushing lever to the left (engaging cdl) further that it seems it should go it tries to force the hi/lo linkage off the spline. However that is not my problem mine wont work in other direction.
I cannot operate cdl linkage from under vehicle by hand, I can lever with a long screw driver. Is this how stiff they normally are?

I'd say yes, given your small amount of leverage you have , they seem pretty stiff. From what I've been told, the problem is unlikely to be in your transfer case but in the linkages themselves, (oops just reread the thread - you rebuilt the gearbox yourself? no point me commenting further you're way ahead of me) When I couldn't engage CDL the problem just lay in the very excessive tolerances of the linkage (yes, a pretty poor design) - sorry I couldn't help
