I recently replace a faulty modem supplied by my ISP and a dual band wireless router (Linksys) with a dual band wireless modem/router (Belkin). I retained the two Linksys usb wireless adapters, however.
Now, my PC can't see the 5Ghz band and I have interference with my wireless home phone. Neither my son's iPhone or my android phone can see the 5Hhz either.
I've been able to determine what the Belkin will transmit on (channels 1 - 13 on 2.4Ghz; and channels 143 to 165 on 5Ghz) but can't find any info on what channels the wireless adapters will receive. I've been told the Linksys adapters should work on the 5Ghz but they don't seem to. I know the 5Ghz band transmits as a friend with a laptop could see our network.
Does anyone know if wireless adapters 'suck' across the complete frequency band or if they are dedicated to specific channels, too? I gather the mobile phones only receive certain channels the 5Ghz band so I wonder if the wireless adapters are the same. But I can't find any infor to confirm or deny.
We've got line filters on our ADSL phone line so I am assuming the interference with the home phone is channel related, too.
Has anyone experienced similar problems and/or got any advice. Am I going to have to buy new wireless adapters?
