The rust, sometimes it makes the head stick.....

of course it cooould also be the nuts holding the rocker towers down on the through head studs.

Still have NFI what the hell was used on the inlet manifold.

of course If I had the manual for one of those engines......

KISS..

hit it with the hammer... anything that breaks needed replacing anyway.

I'd just like to say, and thank at the same time, everyone involved today....it's kind of weird to drive a perfectly workable vehicle you love to a shed and then pull the thing apart.....

So searching eBay for the blown V8 as we speak...all whilst trying to find the poll concerning how long all this will take!

SLOW rocks....but I already knew that.

And making mistakes is learning (hopefully), I bet Mr Knight remembers to undo the rocker tower bolts next time he takes a Series I engine apart.:D

I refer anyone reading this to my comment above...I really appreciate the help and knowledge sharing in this club, but really...

...heck - if it's not polls on how long all this will take (which I thought was funny), it's wise cracks about me having no clue (which I don't)... my glory moment of fixing my broken down vehicle - myself - is still very much in my mind....this then progresses to suggestions that I do nothing on such occasions...I'm OK with people thinking that, but it's not how I remember the day... I didn't smear grease and oil all over myself, my cloths and my hair to simply try to look like I contributed....

...yeah - I need assistance....but no one is doing this for me without my involvement.

Photos only tell a story about what is in frame, Phil...:) ;)

PS - arrangements, to my understanding, regarding food on the day were the club provides meat, individuals coming provide their own salads etc.(inc. drinks) Late as lunch was, I provided all foodstuffs other than the meat....did I need to do more?

Take a chill pill Dan. It's only a little razzing:D

Same as scrutinizing Dave's spannering technique:p

Or my sense of fashion.

If you weren't so popular, no one would care.

Ps. But you at least should have bought the beer:angel:

OK - appreciate the advice...:ehand: ...and the help.... and that although I'm continually making a **** of myself, good people still forgive me....:oops2:

I was intending to buy some beer after we'd finished...beer just wasn't on my radar at 11.00am...:p ...although they were rather tasty...If this is the way it works, I'll put a keg on next time.....

Just be yourself, Dan. If spannering isn't in your original makeup, it takes a while to learn. You'll get there - and, on the off chance that you don't, it won't stop those good folks offering a hand. You have already shown that you are a part of a group who are happy to help you learn - whilst having fun at the same time.

What I would like to know.... you SLoW peeps are having a cracking time up there - and there are lots of pics - but many of us 'southerners' haven't a clue who is who :)

Guessing Dave wasn't too hard to pick - if there is hammer swinging going on he'll be at the centre of it I reckon - but the rest of you are anonymous...

I'm the good looking one with the greys carefully camoflaged out by a short crop and engine oil.

Thanks for identifying all the characters.

Scallops,

I am of the same opinion as xxxxx, be yourself. Everyone was not born with a spanner in their hand. I hope they are helping you because they want to and not because they think they are going to get a free feed and a beer. Working for a feed and a drink went out with slavery, they must want to help you. ;)

Have a look through the pictures again.

I don't think anyone is in dire need of a free feed:p

As a Sponsor of the club, I try to provide what I can to take the burdon away from the hosts in accomodating hordes of people decending on their home, so that more days may happen, and we can focus on the vehicles. I can assure you, everyone was there to help Scallops. Having a BBQ is just an added benefit and adds to the Social Interaction.

This way too, more things are able to happen.

As Australians, we all like to rag on our mates as a sign of affection at any sign of weakness, and there is always the unwritten "Law of Lubrication".

More of a little joking between friends, opened up to the general public at large for comment.

Right - enough Geophysics.....

It's all up on Facebook (photos)....maybe I can link to the SLOW page.....But to recap, bores are pristine, crank bearings, well one was fine, the other 3 show wear - I'll replace the lot; think I need 4 new exhaust valves as beyond help, each and every ring was broken into pieces....one issue with the engine before this is that it is untunable because the dissy is welded stuck....and even with the block fully stripped as it is now I can't see how the heck to budge it.

So some of Dave's latter poll options are looking realistic now! I'll see you guys on a SLOW trip in 2020....just crossing my fingers that Grover can hold himself together through this period otherwise I'll be back to where I started using the Mazda 626!
