My EGR has previously removed on my 05 Defender, and a 1/2" copper pipe was used to bypass where the EGR cooler would have been.
So Im going to remove some redundant pipework
Originally the EGR cooler was fed from the Oil cooler water outlet thru a short rubber connecter hose into a metal pipe around the back of the head & under the inlet manifold then into the EGR cooler & then back to the 4 way connecter under the header tank.
I was going to replace the 4 way connector with a 3 way brass barb tee
and run a new hose from the oil cooler into the a new tee in the heater hose which currently runs from the 4 way connector.
Then I found this Vehicle Service Kits and Parts - Td5 Overheating prevention - Silicon blanking plug (http://landyonline.co.za/shop/product_info.php/cPath/22/products_id/158?osCsid=72a65f84ddc38600a7c4f038c8a10b5e)
and some posts about local D2's which also show the oil cooler blocked off.
Does anyone know if the oil cooler has an internal water flow or does it actually need the hose connected for the cooler to work.
It would be a lot simpler to just block off the Oil cooler outlet & replace the 4 way under the Header tank with a 3 way, then remove the redundant pipes.
And does anyone know does the oil cooler barb take 5/8 hose or 3/4 hose.
thanks ..Don
