Have been running a Donaldson pre cleaner for a while and it works OK most of the time but I do get the feeling that the TD5 is running out of breath at WOT because of the loud sucking noise.

Eventho the Nanocom shows the Mass Air Flow g/hr readout is about the same as a Safari Ram head I thought I'd try out a Toyota snorkel head.

The Toyota Head is 3.5" ID and needs a couple of wraps of duct tape to fit tight.

The tojo head breathes much easier on the TD5 as its the same as they use on the V8 turbo diesel. Altho it does not have the bowl for the dust to spin into like a donaldson it works on the same principle but the dust exits out the slots in the sides of the cone & thus does not need emptying.

It won't be as efficient at collecting dust as a Donaldson but Much better than usin a ram head. The Defender certainly runs quieter & feels that its got more poke.

they are on ebay under '4wd mushroom head'

Interesting,

The Donaldson I've got came with a 5mm silicon band which acts as a spacer. Certainly a couple of wraps of duck tape wouldn't do in:angel:
