Hey All - not sure if there is a better place for this (move it as required).... I've just started reading Robert Spillanes book 'The rise of Psychomanagement in Australia'. Heard about it on Conversations:

Robert Spillane - ABC Conversations with Richard Fidler (http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/2012/02/07/3424970.htm)

Essentially it's a critique of the 'emotional' nonsense that has crept into management practice over the last few decades. You know those pyschometric tests that allocate you a personality type, like the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and other useless rubbish of that sort?

If you've ever wondered why: you despise the managers around you; why no one seems to value performance and outcomes; and why idiots spouting 'emotional intelligence', nurturing and other soft-skills BS seem to get ahead, this is the book for you!

Be warned - you may have some uncomfortable moments of self-realisation...

Cheers,

Adam

Richard Fidler does some really fantastic shows, well worth a listen. He's got such a fabulous voice.

I can't tell you how many things that have been mentioned on that show that I've gone out and looked for afterwards, things that I wouldn't normally have in my repertoire. And most have been well worthwhile.

Getting it thru iTunes is great, I download them on the iPod for long car trips, really passes time if you are alone in the car.
