G'day again!
I still have some troubles with the brake lights and rear fog light, having narrowed down the problem to a faulty earth connection somewhere. According to the workshop manual
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/03/1310.jpg
there should be an earth point somewhere near the RHS wheel arch, labeled C0558 on the above image.
Despite looking closely I failed to discover this connection on my truck. Does someone of you know the exact location of this particular earth point? I am clueless... Before I forget, Defender 110 CCPU, MY 2001.
I am grateful for all support!
Cheers

Hi, if the lights work ok when the trailer is not connected it is most likely a trailer earthing issue. I would check those forst.

Regards

Gordo

Ta, Gordo!
I have checked the trailer socket, cleaned and refitted everything. This solved only part of the problem, hence my suspicion the earth connection is the culprit.

For what it's worth on my 2001 Def there is a earth to the body on the number plate light. You mee d to remove the inside panel to get at it.

Not sure if ther is an earth point behind panel on the other side
