Hi everyone, long term lurker, first time poster.
I’m looking to buy a 7 seat Discovery. I started out looking at S1’s but it’s difficult to find a good clean one. As I’ve taken so long to find a good one, I now find that I can afford an S2. But once again early models with the centre diff still fitted are mostly scruffy and 2A’s are getting close to Disco 3 money, hence why I’m now here.
I’ve come across a 2005 SE 4.0 at a dealer with an extremely attractive price if taken “as is”.
There is one major issue with the vehicle that I’d like to know if it’s hard to rectify or not.
The centre control panel fails to respond to any inputs. No radio, CD and most importantly no A/C, either left, right or rear.
The dealer stated it’s because the vehicle just had a new battery fitted this morning and the vehicle needs the code entered. Does this sound right? I know stereo’s are often disabled due to lack of the correct code but the climate control as well?
If this is the case, how difficult is it to overcome? Can a code be entered into the console? If so will the dealer give me the code or will I need to invest in a computer diagnostic tool or take it to the dealer?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
