Hi all, my new Def 90 seems to keep the revs high when changing gear e.g. when I drop the clutch the revs drop a little bit, but stay pretty high for 2-3 seconds before actually dropping down), I was told by my local dealer that this is correct, and that its to keep the turbo engaged and/or to alleviate the running gear cluck... you guys heard anything like that?

Curious... I've also noticed that it appears to be more heavy on the juice than than my 2009 LWB, which is a bit of a worry! :o

It's an issue with all modern cars due to needing to comply with ever stricter emission limits. With any internal combustion engine there is a huge spike in emissions (mainly NOx) when the foot is suddenly taken off the accelerator. So when you take your foot off the accelerator quickly (to change gears) the computer will maintain the current revs, not let the revs reduce. This leads to an engine that seems to flare between gear changes.
Here endeth the lesson for today. :)

Nothing to worry about with the revs high between gear changes, both of my 130 puma utes have done the same thing, but, if they all of a sudden stay unusually high, the first thing to look at is the brake light fuse. There is for some reason a direct link between the brake lights/ fuse blowing and the engine revs staying up between gears...mine stayed at constant revs for about 5 sec, rang lr dealer and the mechanic said check your brake light fuse and sure enough that fixed it..weird but true, hope this helps any puma owners.

What is worse is when you lift off the accelerator say when negotiating a car park and nothing happens or it keeps accelerating :o. It's not responsive enough for me. I find the antistall annoying for the same reason. I want cars to do what I tell them to do and not think they know best. I guess we just have to take the crunchy with the smooth when it comes to improved technology.
