Replacing Air Filter D2 V8 Manual

Hi All,

Could someone be so kind as to post a pic from the RAVE CD about replacing the air filter and any instructions / tools (required) please?... I purchased one from my mechanic today & would like to do this...

(i'm still blind without my rave cd)

Undo the two spring clips on the lid, lift the lid out of the forward locating lugs, remove element, clean out sundry dead frogs leaves insects etc out of the box, insert new element, refit lid by tilting first into the forward locating lugs, press down and put the clips back in place. It may help to undo the big hose from the air cleaner to the engine and slip it off for the duration of the job.

oookay... work with me here please, i'm a chick... know nothing much about mechanics (although learning).... if it's not too much trouble... could I ask you/someone to post a pic of their engine please and just point out to me where the air filter is... hubby is working late tonight... i'm on my own.... 4 kids are in bed... so I have some time to do this, the rest I can follow... :-D

btw - is it the squarish box connected along-the-line to the MAF?

I don't have my rave cd @ present otherwise I wouldn't be asking such trivial annoying questions :-D

ok - figured it out.... new air filter is in!!... so my NEW question...

Now that I have a spare air filter.... do you guys/gals.... just use a compressor to clean any dust/dirt out & it's as good to go again when the time arises??

Also, should I expect anything different with Lp now that she has a new air filter?? (The new MAF, well... i'm expecting a few speeding fines LOL )

NOOOOOO....

hold it by the silicone seal and tap it very lightly against the side wall of the tyre with the non silicon held pleats facing the tyre and verticle. any loose dust will fall out of the filter.

Once youve cleaned it place it into a ziplock bag and store it somewhere safe where it cant be crushed. I've been known to loosely tie them up to the underside of the front seats and curl them around behind the panels that have the access for the rear lights.

Thanks for the reply... Think the "noooooo" got it for me :-D.....

Instead of lightly tapping it against the sidewall.... how about sucking up any particles from between the fins with a small nozzle from a vac cleaner???

I've got the original box, so once the cleaning method is sorted will store it in that en route in a zip lock bag as suggested and most likely in the garage in my tool (aka server) cabinet...!!
