Hi guys !

I raise my alternator, but I encounter a problem:
impossible to replace the cable +, as you can see:
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/03/716.jpg

impossible to thread the cable, it is in the right place?
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/03/764.jpg

I read this excellent post:http://www.aulro.com/afvb/d3-d4-rrs/69060-tdv6-alternator-replacement.html
but nobody would have a picture to see how the cable is oriented ?
It is "rigidly", I can not rotate it !
an idea?
Maybe if I unplug the other extremity of this cable, on the "starter"?
I'll be crazy ..

Marc.

What is your question, it is not clear. To put it together, reverse the process of taking it apart.

My problem was: how to reassemble the cable, in fact, very hard to screw up!no space to work easily! as you can see :

But I managed, it's done!

It may be helpful to connect the cable before bolting the alternator into position.

Nope , You must think I'm trying!

the cable is "big" and rigid, unable to move easily!
LR RTA, said: Alternator mount then attach the cable!

Ive just done one , its orientation is paralell with the block, straight back . Are you saying there is not enough cable to pull it slightly forward amd put it on the terminal ?
Who took it off ? Did it snap back once released ?What beeutey said is exactly how I did it. Fit and tighten cable before fitting altenator. Only one spanner required 13 MM
PS I Just love your tensioner drive , one of those el cheapo 3/8 drive ratchets with a !0 inch I/2 inch drive extension. very novel!!!

Hi

My issue : tried to do the alternator with the cable attached, but i couldnt fit it. After a couple of hours i swapped to try it the same way as you're trying it and that worked for me but it wasnt easy. I had to pre bend the connector with some pliers before fitting the alternator.
That's the problem, the cable is too short and too rigid!

But : done now....................It's not the easiest of jobs, you need to be very strong and have small flexible hands - not a well known combination!........

YEP, very "easy" with ..............
Cheers !
