Which bullbars fit a D4 HSE SDV6? The ARB ones say they only fit the SE model.

Opposite Lock and they look almost the same. They also have provision for the forward facing cameras/sensors

Anybody else had an Opposite Lock Bar fitted to their D4? I have and I'm disappointed to say the least. There is a massive gap between the lights and the bar of on average about 20mm although as the bar is not level this changes from side to side. Going back next Friday to let them have another go but have been told that the gap is to stop damage to the flairs and lights over corrugations.
Olid4,
I believe that I saw somewhere else on the forum that somebody had had an ARB fitted to a HSE. Its there somewhere!

Both the OL and ARB bars will have gaps under the headlights due to the design of the D4 bumper and grill. The OEM plastic bumper curves up to meet the headlights whereas the aftermarket bars are a straight line. OL have tried to improve the finish by installing rubber fillers under the headlights. Not ideal l guess but better than a big gap.

The official word from ARB is that their bar will not fit a HSE. Newcastle ARB refused to even try and referred me to Mannell Motors in Sydney. However, there are at least 2 members on this forum who have the ARB bar fitted. I'm looking at the OL bar myself to ensure ADR / insurance compliance.

Discojools, ask about the rubber inserts for under the headlights. The Newcastle OL branch was not aware of them until l mentioned it. They checked with head office and they should be supplied with the bar.

Regards Trif.

Is anyone able to load a photo? Also, any costs for comparison would be handy as well.

Cheers

Yeah have the rubber inserts below the lights but still around 20mm gap. Looks c**p! Will try and post some pics if I can remember how! Actually how do I attach pics to my post?

As far as costs are concerned OL bar was $1595 plus 400 for colour coding and 350 for fitting. Ends up bout the same as ARB who told me there was a 3 month wait which I have since found out wasn't true! In the end there wasn't time to get OL to paint so I had it done by my guy for $250. Unfortunately he will have to do it again (he's agreed no problem) as for some reason etching primer didn't work properly. All in all a bit of a disaster on all fronts!

I will get a pic with the wife gets home. My OL bar is a perfect fit. Did have to have the flares trimmed a touch more so that they did not touch over rough ground.....this is not an OL fault. 2100 all up fitted and colour coded....I had them do all the other work at the same time, so deal overall was excellent.

I think they have taken too much off my flares..discotwinturbo, sounds like you got a good deal. Look forward to some pics.

These pics have been supplied to me by Opposite Lock..if you pm me your email address I will send you a copy of all the pics they sent me. I think OL have slightly differing prices depending on the area of operation. Prices quoted to me were $1499.00 + $400.00 colour coding =$400.00 fitting. ( a couple of the pics I have wouldn't load)

I am having my HSE D4 fitted with an ARB Bull Bar next week - The guys at ARB in Kilsyth, VIC have assured me all is ok as I do not have the surround camera. They will be installing the front sensors so nothing will be missing from the original.
I will post pics and comments if people are interested when done

No gap to speak of with the rubber spacer on our OL bullbar, you can see the spacer in the second pic.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v293/bazzar/DSC00312.jpg

Looks like you do plenty of ruff roads. My fitters (Opposite Lock) told that there was a 20 mm gap because they had had damage to the lights and flares from the movement of the bar on corrugated roads. They have also cut my flares so that the bottom edge is not parallel to the bar. Looks pretty suss to me.

Yes we do and quite a bit of rough off road tracks, like our bar on the D2, the bar hardly moves at all, I think it may be the store that has fitted yours, which is dissapointing, given the great service we have had from Gordon at the OL shop at Kogarah in Sydney (he's a Land Rover enthusiast though)

The gap is about 10mm(I can fit my finger in there) with the rubber spacer, which is good, the bar would have to move quite a lot to hit the light if it did move.

Mine is about the same Baz.
Saw Jools bar the other day. The gaps are way too big.
Had my bar fitted at the same OL outlet too.

Cheers, Craig

Looking at the gap, it is different from side to side and the bar is angled too, very odd, maybe when he takes it back he will get it sorted.

BMW X5 Alloys 17 x 7.5 with Kumho LT265/70/17 KL78 ATs, 46mm back space which gives 11mm wider offset, centre hole is axactly the same at 72.5.

Just dropped off my D4 at Lance Dixon for service. Spotted D4 with ARB bar. The bar is mounted much higher than mine and is in fact touching the centre grill. Also the flares looked pretty average where they had been cut. I am sure that there would be enough movement on ruff roads for the bar to do damage to the grill. Having said that everything was level.. better than mine.

Dropped into OL yesterday for them to fix the bar. Now level and the bottom of the flares much better. Still a big 17mm gap between bar and grill/lights but looks ok.
Not great but I can live with it.
Just noticed wiring that my other guy did for lights. A bit untidy so will have to fix myself! Light force Genesis HIDs are pretty good! Not twice as good (they r twice the price) as halogens but give very clear view.
Also noticed my bloke has broken a tab on the flare when he installed the snorkel. Nothing much going right for me with mods to this car. Car itself is perfect though which is something!

Went back to Opposite Lock today to have bar refitted. They have lifted it a little and trimmed the bottom edge of flares so parallel with the bar. All looks a bit better now.
Shouldn't have had to go through all that though!

Exactly.....it should not have gone out without being installed correctly.
My oppy lock store was great. They told me that they were having issues, so had to hold onto it until it looked perfect.

Mine was the first D4 OL bar fitted. All went well. discojools has seen it and agrees.
Not sure what went wrong with his. You would think that practice makes perfect.
Since managed to bend it by hitting an embankment at speed;)
