power steering

hi can any one tell me why have like a humming noise sort ,of from power steering ,fluid ok no oil leaks ,can hear only inside or is it something else , help would b great

Do you have a D2?
on the drivers side right of the Steering wheel shroud on the dash fasia, there are little vented slots. Behind this is a fan for climate control, If the unit gets dirt/dust on it's bearing is hums.

My wife has a 300tdi disco, I changed the power steering pump because I thought it was noisy, no leaks or any other issues, after we got it all back together the noise was still there, it was the Bering in the alternator making the noise, new alternator and the problem solved, $200 dollars for power steering pump wasted....
so be careful what you spend your money on...

:)thanks no have,t checked that yet ,d2 leather trim power seats climant control ,harmon kardon stereo3 speakers per door and two in back door ,:) electric windows ,and any thing else ,2000 model d2
