View Full Version : Will a 3.9 14cux ecu work in my 3.5?

I have an intermittent stalling/rough running problem (pull up at the lights and it runs rough/stalls) I am chasing and want to just check that it is not the computer but I want to check that a 3.9 one will work before I drive up the coast to pick it up.

Have been through most things. Bosch ignition conversion made a world of difference but did not fix it entirely.

Vehicle is a 92 D1 with 370,000k's.

Searched but could not find anything - probably a very obvious answer to everyone but me!!

Thanks
John

John, yes it will work but it is not fuelled exactly the same, I personally haven't noticed any difference but apparently they are quite different in mapping.

For example, a manual one will work with an auto and visa versa but idle speeds will be all over the place for the manual one fitted to the auto when in drive.

If it is only to check idle and running then should be fine to try IMO.

Thanks for the reply Justin. I will need to drive it around for a bit as the problem is intermittent and I suspect heat related -so I will see how it goes.

Thanks

John
