Re-registering a D1: Tyres for RWC (VIC)

I have been fixing up a 200tdi D1 for RWC and re-registering, however i have a problem, it needs a set of tyres, I want to buy a set of BFG KM2 M/T's from Tirerack in the USA, and would prefer to get something a bit larger than standard (my other disco had 235/85's, i know they are a bit big for rwc), I am thinking 245/75R16, but i am a bit hesitant considering that 205/80 and 235/70 are standard fitment. I don't want to get caught out at roadworthy time, but i also don't want to be stuck with standard sized tyres off road. I am sure someone has been in this predicament before, so any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I have some standard size A/T's in the shed on D1 rims you could borrow if you just need them for a roady. There 235/70/16. You would need to pick up and drop of to Sunbury though. Let me know if you require them.

Have a chat with your RW tester first, 235 85 16 shouldn't make much difference to him, they don't look like hoon tyres and are standard fitment on Deefa's.

Not really a problem for him to pass it as long as they have RW tread.
