Just had O'Brien's fit a new screen to my D3 after a D4 with GG's flicked a stone out of it's tread coming into Ferntree Gully a couple of weekends back!
Now I have a bad whistle above 80kph at the left hand side of the screen looking out.
Any ideas would be helpful, I have checked that the pillar cover is fixed correctly.

Get them back out. They can put a wand over it, and locate the leak and then fix. Sometimes they have to remove the window again.....this is a worry for them as it can crack.
Hassle them until they fix it.

Obrien's give a warranty. If it's not right they should fix it at no cost to you ( to repair it correctly they should remove the screen, not just put some more urethane around the edge )

Hello Guys
The whistle is outside, I think it's the trim or something!

Re wind noise and the like, if I think I know maybe where the noise is coming from, perhaps a crack or seam, sometimes I will tape up the area with black electrical tape just to see if the noise changes. If not, I keep adding tape.

If the noise level decreases, I at least know that I am in the right area so I start removing lengths of the tape until the noise reappears.

How did you check it exactly ?
I only ask as my cover had a bit of a rattle and a slight whistle so I pulled it off and fitted a set of new clips - problem solved !!!!
Did O'briens use new clips ?
Hope you get it sorted - little "rattles/whistles" etc are a pain in the proverbial....
cheers :)

I had O'Brien's out today and they replaced a clip that was missing, also added more of that black stuff.
The wierd sound is still there.
I will try that electrical tape thing and I should be able to isolate it and then get O'Brien's back again.
Thanks guy's!
Cheers Michael

You can also get whistles and rattles from missing or broken clips on the A pillar plastic trim. These have to be removed to fit the new windscreen and are easy to break.

Can you tell me what make of windscreen obriens fitted ?
Was it OEM pilkingtons or the XYG chinese screen ??
Gotta get a new one next week and I am checking things out.
BTW the clips for the A posts are available on ebay direct from the UK for OEM clips. cost about $14 delivered for 5 replacement clips.
LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 3 A-POST/B-POST TRIM CLIPS QTY 5 | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LAND-ROVER-DISCOVERY-3-A-POST-B-POST-TRIM-CLIPS-QTY-5-/260962166610?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cc28ea752#ht_1994wt_1122)
Mine is now clipped nice and tight and quietens down the road noise.
cheers

I will order a set of the clips! Obriens here replaced my windscreen and the drivers side A column keeps coming off! Took it back and they cannot find any problems!
That is after both windscreen wipers stopped working and the rubber piece at the top of the screen came out and started bashing the roof!

On my 3rd windscreen at this time.
The original was replaced by a generic 'Windscreen Specialist' in my local area and the problem with the whistling was there from the time I picked the vehicle up, albeit at speeds above 85km/h. Same issue with the 'A' pillar trim which I found when it flew off on the highway whilst we were going home. Turned around, picked up the trim and went to my local LR local agent who fitted the new clips and my problem went away! I should have gone back to the windscreen place but figured they had not taken to much care so was not going back for some more 'less than good' outcomes.
The next windscreen was replaced in Perth by a mobile windscreen service recommended by the LR dealer I had purchased my D4 from. The work was carried out in the dealers yard while I waited. This guy 'Prestige Windscreens' used OEM windscreen and parts. He also supplied and fitted new 'A' pillar trims and clips as well! My insurance company had wanted me to go to a generic mob again. I said no to that and added that I had paid a substantial amount of cash for my car and wanted it fixed by persons who know what they are doing. I paid for the work myself which was over $1k and lodged a refund application with my insurer. The insurer came to the party with a refund of the total amount. It has been my experience that the generic windscreen mobs are OK with vehicle types they see on a regular basis but put anything remotely different in front of them and they struggle.

I have to say, once O'briens had been authorised to put OEM in they were great.
There even sent a pommie installer who had lots of experience with LR's.
He and another guy replaced it in my garage.
The Moulding at the top was changed for a new one, and they actually had the LR clips for the A pillar, as I mentioned that they fly off.
Been in a while now and absolutely no drama.
I guess you have to word them up before install on exactly what you want.
Good bye XYG , Hello Pilkingtons Optikool.

My replacement with with O'Briens was good - insurance company agreed that if the old windscreen was genuine the new one would be also - O'Briens also had the clips - however when the screen was back in they also ran a bead of sealant down where the trim clips on just as a bit of extra security and I have had no issues at all.
