Hi, been asked to join a tag along tour to CSR next year. Good idea or not in my 2010 TDV8 luxury sport? I know that I have to put better tyres on, and carry bulk fuel, but am good tetras packer, and will be in a group. I reckon we should do it. Thoughts?

Do it -make sure you have LLAMs - will keep you up off the ground in the faster sections and will save the air compressor trying to pump you up and down.

Garry, thanks for positive comments. I have the GOE rods for height adjustment, which should work for this. Concern for me with Llams is the amount of warranty still remaining, and fact that I am pretty sure that at some stage I will be hitting LR up for dynamic response roll bar issues. Hasn't happened yet but suspect it will at some point. And expensive if it does go wrong. So aim to keep the car looking "stock" as much as possible. Until warranty is no longer a consideration.

Then just remove LLAMS - probably will take about as long as will take to remove your rods for that warranty claim.

Good idea. Thought of it as something more "permanent" but if not sounds like a plan.

Give it a go should be fantastic.
How do you find the GOE rods?, are they easy fit?. I was just on their web site reading about them.

Haha good question they arrived this week have yet to fit them. Pretty simple idea, once you locate where they go there is nothing too difficult. But, suspect that we will get dirty working on them. As per the instructions some spray silicone lubricant supposed to help.

Ok if / when you get them on post how it goes.
Good luck , but if you do the CSR I would think that the GOE rods or LLAMS would be wise.
Cheers

Agreed. I need to have better tyres, carry heaps of fuel, spares, some sort of suspension back up, hard liquor and some canned food. Perfect!:) The rest is just extra!

Meccles & Tony,

I have GOE rods and they take about 5-10 mins to fit the first time each wheel as the originals are hard to remove (easy to put back). Once fitted however, swapping them to standard position takes about a minute per wheel. They work a treat.

I lead a trip up the Canning last year in my RRS (3.0 ltr TDV6). No issues - was a great trip. Yes the GOE rods were indispensable for high speed travel in the dune country (we had 4 LR vehicles, all on the GOE rods).

If you need any further info, email me (or search for my post August/sept last year)

Cheers,

Gordon

Just spray a lubricant that does not effect rubber.....they come off nice and easy.

If you do go ahead and do the trip, along with all the spares, get some old tyre tube and cut a piece the same size as the base of your batteries and then put it under the batteries. The CSR is a shocker for battery issue's, and a late model car that rely's on electrics like yours would doesn't need a battery to fail.

The only battery to fail in our group was the only 1 not mounted on rubber.

Enjoy the trip.

Thanks good tip. We mount all our Zerox photocopier's on high density foam on the ship as we have same sort of issues with regards to vibration/shock to sensitive electronics.
