My Defender 110 currently has 2 x Odyssey PC1700's mounted under the passenger seat.

My Aux is stuffed and I need to replace it. I have never had any problems with the Odysseys but if possible I'd like a few more Ah than I can get from the Odysseys.

My problem is space / dimensions, so I'd like to go and have a chat with someone that offers many manufacturers so I can compare dimensions vs Ah.

My other requirements are that it's sealed and can be charged with my CTEK XS7000.

So, any thoughts for somewhere in Sydney?

Alternatively maybe we start a list of dimensions, Ah, make & model.

Thx
J

Check also the Supercharge range, esp the "All rounder"

Supercharge Batteries - Car Batteries, Maintenance, Expanded Grid Technology (http://www.supercharge.com.au/products_special_allrounder.php)

Supercharge also (usually) offer a discount to AULRO members... check first! Tell them your AULRO Avatar/name.. the URLs in the previous posts will give you some idea of cost... you can do a comparo with what S'charge offer.

It may not be suitable ...I am not familiar with the dimensions you need.

I did buy 2 of them (105AH each) for a long trip in 2010 ...I now use them regularly for powering two Aldi electric scissor jacks and an electric rattle gun and sundry other stuff...they work well!

While they are fine in a camper trailer I'm getting a bit risk averse as I get older and am wondering about the economics of a dry-cell rechargeable for situating in the cabin of the P38...

Have a look on the Caterpillar (pickup Parramatta) site and check the specs of their offerings.
Just got a big starting battery for the d2 at least $50 less than anything from supercharge/ century.

Checked the date on the Aux battery the other day and was surprised to see it was Sept 2004 when I installed it. It only run a 60litre Evakool and lights but it can still go for a couple of days without charging. Its an Exide Extreme (80ah) and the second one i've had since I picked up the car new in 97. The first one was still ok when I replaced it but was starting to lose capacity so I just replaced it.
They are not deep cycle but have thicker plates to cope with vibration etc so seem to handle discharge and recharge better than a standard starter battery.
When the car is stood for long periods I usually stick a trickle charger on and this probably contributes to the long service i'm getting. As we know batteries left discharged for long periods don't last long.
I paid $140 for the last one from Kmart but a quick google search shows them up around $200 for the N70 these days.
Cheers
Mark

Spoke to Ron at Batteries Direct the other day, he recommended this battery as it provides just about as many Ah (130Ah) as I can get in a space pretty similar to my dead Odyssey PC1700.

http://www.batteriesdirect.com.au/shop/product/21617/ssb-ultra-high-performance-.html

Whilst the length and width are spot on for me (to make fitting much simpler), the height is a bit of a concern, as too is the brand.

Has anyone used these kind of batteries before? Any experiences, good / bad / in-different?

Its to be used for aux equipment and Engels, LEDs, 1800W pure sine inverter etc. It will also be used to power up to 6 x 100W lightforce lights when night driving, though I could re-route for these to come off the main battery.

Any thoughts on this brand of battery?

thx
