OK so I know they look good (to some of us) but wondering if you can order a defender with the black Sawtooth Alloys and the standard Conti AT tyres rather than the Goodyear MTRs - on the basis that I don't see much mud.

Second question is (if I have to order MTRs) how much extra noise do Goodyear MTR tyres make over the Conti ATs??

I had conti's on the L322 and MTRs on sawtooth rims on the defender and I wish I changed the MTR's to conti's.I have lowered the pressure in the MTRs to 34 front 32 rear and thats helped. Pat

I have just picked up my 90 with the sawtooths and MTRs. I don't think they are very noisy at present but in my experience MTRs get noisier as they start to wear. I had BFG MTRs on my Patrol and they were fine at first and became very noisy. Just a tip in case you go for a test drive and don't think they are too bad. I would like a set of those Khan wheels in 18'' for during the week and my sawtooths for the weekend. If only I had an unlimited budget.

I also had my Danny boy delivered with the sawtooth and MRT. I also tested a defender with them...not much difference. Tyre noise on a defender is the least of noises on my mind....I'm still getting used to the diesel over the V8 rumble. The noise from the rear tub in the rain. The noise of the wind screen wipers. The noise when a lose stone bounces in the wheel arches. The heavy door close noise. The noise of the kids laughing in the back seats. And if my smile had a noise it would the the loudest of them all.....enjoy the difference.

It was always an option on standard Boost Alloys to have muddies fitted and for a while those were BFG KM2's. If you requested it at order, I'm sure the dealer would be able to deliver it with A/T's.

Not sure you'll be able to get Contis though as they'll most probably swap it off a vehicle that arrived with the standard General Grabbers (or have they now swapped to delivering them with Conti's?).

Worth asking the dealer if you really want to do it...
