Went for a bit of a trip last year around Holland and Germany to see a couple of friends (who both have Land Rovers) and took a few photos of the Landies I saw along the way, so I thought I'd post them up for interest.
The year before I'd left my motorbike with some friends in Amsterdam, and they needed their shed space back again, so that seemed like a good excuse to go and visit again.
Norbert & Ruth drove their 110 all the way from Holland to Aust (via Iran/Pakistan/India) and we met them in Adelaide and they stayed for a couple of weeks at the farm. This is them back in Amsterdam with their 200TDI 110 (Mrs Spud in the middle):

And this is me out and about on the bike I went to shift:

Still on South Australian rego plates!!

I had to get insurance for it for 3 weeks, and because it was an Australian rego'd bike, it cost EU300 for the 'green slip' (about $400+) which is more than I'd pay for a year back here. Cheaper than not being insured in the event of a crash though.

The first day there we were having a coffee in central Amsterdam, and this came around the corner:

As he was going very slowly I waved him down for a chat and by chance he was parking about 50m up the road, so we got to look at his 110 up close.
Very nicely fitted out. He had just come back from a few weeks in Morocco.

You can't really see it well here, but above the canvas canopy he had an alloy door he could pull down to 'theft-proof' the back of the canopy when he left it. Very clever.

The padlocks at the back were for locking the alloy rear door when it was down:

A few days later we caught up with Don & Jenn who had just got back to Amsterdam afterdriving all the way from Holland to Australia, then across to South Africa and all the way back to Europe again in their 110.
Luckily (for me - not so much for Mrs Spud) he was off to a "Land Rover Sortout" the next day only an hour or so from Amsterdam, so of course we had to tag along. Lots of 2nd hand stuff for all sorts of Landies. Saw a lot of 101's which are pretty uncommon out here, and even a trailer of military trailers.
This is his 110 which went all the way from Holland to Aust and then back again. He was trying to sell it, as it was not so easy to get around the small streets of Amsterdam in such a big vehicle:

Line of Landies in the carpark (from visitors - not exhibitors):

All sorts of junk for sale/swap:

Rapier trailers?

They also had a section where you could take your vehicle through a bit of a trials area, which was a great hit with the punters.

Mrs Spud found an interesting Disco camper conversion. She was generally a good sport about being dragged around cold wet paddocks looking at LR things :)

We saw a few UniMogs whilst driving around, but never seemed to have my camera set to go. This is the only one I got a photo of, somewhere in Berlin. Looked very expensive!

I thought there'd be a lot more around, given we were in Germany....
Can anyone explain what these signs on their bridges mean:
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
Obviously something to do with weights or speeds or something for the military, but I couldn't crack the code even after going past 10 or 15 of them.

That's about it from the Land Rover side of things. After East Berlin we motored off to a small Polish village where Mrs Spud's ancestors had been "evicted" by the King (He was Catholic and they were Lutheran.... so they took a boat to Adelaide to escape persecution) and then on to Auschwitz. Go there if you get a chance. Not exactly an enjoyable visit but sobering and horrifying and very interesting.
That's all for now - Cheers

Taking a guess - tanks or military vehicles, undivided road lanes 50km, single lane same speed. Trucks undivided road lanes 50km, single lane 100km.......

Mate,
you should have come for a cuppa! You could even have taken pics of my trucks. Next time, maybe?
As for the signs, they show the weight classes permitted for military vehicles when using a bridge or some side roads, one sign for tracked vehicles and the other one for vehicles with wheels, obviously. Any military vehicle will have their respective weight class marked somewhere, a yellow spot with a number on. If that number is higher than the one shown on the sign, the vehicle must not cross the bridge or use that particular stretch of road.

Hey Jojo - sounds like I should have, but from your profile I can only see you are 'north of the Queensland' or something like that, so whereabouts are you actually?

That second video shows both the strengths and weaknesses of the forward control design, particularly when portals are involved.
The tippy - fall over issue is worse in a Haflinger and Pinzgauer and less of an issue in a 101 but the 101 not having portals has a lower C of G.

A mate here in Brisbane owned a Volvo C304 that had previously been owned by Karl Kruszelnicki. A rather quirky and gutless beast (the Volvo that is).
