Hi,
I was curious about the shelf life of diesel and came across this article from BP
http://www.opecsystems.com/files/pdfs/ADF1402m.pdf
I occasionally get some clear gel substance in the water trap near the tank and it sounds like its possibly the gum that forms as mentioned in the article. My Disco can sit for 6 months at a time as we generally only use it in the Summer months. Has anyone found any good additives to prolong diesel 'shelf life'?
Cheers

Mark

Water/condensation is your enemy. I've had fuel tested from underground tanks (that store diesel for standby generators) that is still fine after 15 years - the thing all the good fuel tests had in common was that the tanks were kept full to minimise condensation.

Always keep your tank full when you aren't using it.
