Stockton Beach Gopro vid

bought a Gopro Hd 2 just before Xmas and used it for the first time a couple of weeks ago on Stockton beach Newcastle. Surprisingly easy to use and just stuck the suction cup to the windscreen switched it on and away.
The Disco 300TDI went really well in the sand with tyres pressures at around 16psi. Seems they extended the track at the Lavis lane end and much easier to get to the beach these days. Of course the recent rains have helped keep the sand compact as well.

Nice clear vision for such a small devise. I'd love to get something the same or similar for Cape York in July. I wonder how they'd handle severe outback corrugations.

GOPro's are all good.

A mate and I have one and use them on both road bikes and on the dirt bikes, in the surf and on the SVX.

You can mount solid mount them or just use the suction cup.

I'll have to keep my eye out for you at the Cape, we are heading up late July for 6 weeks.

I hit some corrugations at 00:20 seconds to give you an idea, it would depend on how good your suspension was I suppose (i'm running Bilsteins). Considering they have no form of image stabilisation these camera's are remarkably stable but I guess its mostly thanks to the extreme wide angle.

Yeah, I read some reviews on Gopro's and they seem to be quite popular. One thing I read a couple of times is the new model has extra features that you probably wont bother using. Most people using a sports cam just want to simply turn it on or turn it off.
I notice on Ebay there are people upgrading to the latest model and selling their older one, maybe that's all I'd need, still 1080p.

We are planning to end our trip to the Cape in Cairns on July 21st, then put the County on a truck and fly home.
You might not be the only one we bump into as there seems to be quite a few AULRO members heading that way around the same time.

we just got a go pro 2

got mainly to play around with and also to take diving/snorkeling.

in the standard form the gopro wont focus underwater because of the curved lens. so you need to get a flat lens for it. got a Blur fix which also allows me to put a cy filter on it. makes for truer colours under water.

there are a few different brands around though that are worth a look.

plan on giving the gopro a good workout on our trip to exmouth in june

The only limitation of the Go-Pro seems to be battery life, at about 2 hours it far less than the capacity of some of new SD cards.

I picked up a Toshiba 32gb class 10 SD card on eBay for $45AUD's, that gives well over 8 hours of recording time at 1080dpi.

I have seen the "skeleton case" advertised on eBay, this allow for the USB/Charging cable to plug into the Go-Pro while the unit is in use. I am hope that I can plug the other end of the cabel into the USB socket on the stereo head unit and charge the Go-Pro while it is recording. This should provide unlimited battery life.

Has anyone tried to charge their Go-Pro like this ?

wow that's a great deal on the card.
and class 10 now... cards must of gotten better in recent times.

the might internet search tells me you can charge the gopro and film aslong as it's plugged into either a wall or car charger (so pretty much just not your computer)
if your stereo wont allow charging you can pick up those cigarette/usb charges pretty cheap.
it doesn't have to be a overpriced gopro branded one
