I'm looking to buy a 110 with Tasmanian registration, and I live in Queensland. All I know about the process is that we no longer have RWC up here, and have a 30 day safety certificate instead. Does anybody know what is required?

What are the minimum requirements to be issued a safety certificate, and what's the best way to go about things?

I've heard that the buyer can sign a stat dec, declaring that they are responsible for traffic infringements over the course of 14 days or so... however long it takes for the registration to be transferred.

Please gents, enlighten me.

I've not long gone through the process of re-registering from Vic to Qld..had to get a RWC done to show safety prior process beginning, insurance etc...If you purchase and bring directly to QLD from interstate you have to also show the transaction details apparently.
Was an easy process in reality, but costly...
I drove the D2A for 5 months up here before doing the change, I think you are allowed 3mths (as I found out latterly) before any infraction of the rules.

My biggest bit of advice to you is to not take it from anyone here, get it from the horses mouth because laws and small rules can change between states and you will not know until you contact both the registry for Tasmania and Queensland to find out what the rules and requirements are from both ends!

I went through a huge deal 1.5 years back getting my Qld County registered in NSW - I had to get a blue slip and engineering done in NSW etc etc etc - had to get VIN restamped etc etc etc and engineering papers done to comply with NSW. I had no problems but it was a paper mill and the biggest thing I learned is to ask at both registries for each state what is required for the transfer because sometimes the two authorities are in conflict and not in lock step with their regs.

If you do that and cross your T's you will be right ...

The vehicle has gas installed, so there's a good chance it will need a gas certificate. Is there a recommended shop somewhere near either Bulimba or the Western suburbs who can do gas and safety certificates?

Tim,

My County was dual fuel LPG/Petrol and I didn't need to get a gas cert for interstate transfer, all they wanted to see was that the gas plate was in date and not beyond the 10 year safety check - once again though, you need to get this from the horses mouth because requirements and regs may have changed between then and now and I was dealing with NSW and Qld ... Tazzie > Qld may be a whole different deal.

Yes, I sent off a few questions to main roads via the online form, so hopefully they get back to me soon. I'll be sure to let the forum know what is required though, so we can all be in the know.

in QLD it might be best doing it online and copy all transactions IME as when you go to customer service you can get VERY different requirements from 2 different servers and some are a bit dim to say the least :wasntme:
