Hi Guys, I've been away from the www for a while, just got into Perth from a Melbourne - Ningaloo - Pilbara road trip.

I'm staying near Kwinana, so all the suppliers are on the other side of town, and the traffic is worse than when I was last here a decade ago.

Anyway, I got a chip in my windscreen, and wonder whether there is anyone that can do a well priced replacement in (preferably southern) Perth? I'll also need to get a new windscreen rubber, as it's still on the original ('97).

I was also thinking of changing the rear seal in the LT230 (weeping) and putting a gasket on the Salisbury cover, but those small items are hard to justify 2 hours in traffic for. But if I need to do a drive to get the parts and the windscreen rubber, then I may as well. I'm here for a week.

Your local knowledge will be appreciated.

Thanks, Michael.

Southern landrover in Cannington, Rover-tech in Bentley, and British Parts in Carlysle are all south of the river, and should be able to help with parts.

If the chip has not turned into a crack, Windscreens Obrien can fill it with the epoxy resin fix. That could be the cheapest option. I had to replace my windscreen 18 months ago, and unfortunately the installer didn't have a new seal. It has leaked since. I priced up a new seal from Windscreens Obrien, and was told over $200 just for the seal, then fitting costs added. Last night I ordered one from the UK for about $35 inc postage.

If you definitely need a new screen and seal, you are welcome to my seal if it arrives in time, and I'll just order another. Standard postage can be unpredictable though from UK. I have had things delivered anywhere from 5 days to 4 weeks after ordering.

Cheers
Andre

It's just a chip at the moment, just out of the wiper zone. But it's the 2nd chip on the screen and there is mild 'pitting' after 15 years use, so I thought I'd look into getting it replaced altogether. It can wait till I return home if there are no good deals to be had locally, and in that case I'd probably order a seal in from the UK too. Andre, if it ends up cracking, which I doubt, I'll PM you about the seal. Thanks for the offer.

Might pay to check with your insurer as some have a free windscreen each year or two, just get orients to do it and they bill the insurer direct...they aren't great at making it known tho. I have had a few Done this way usually a few days before I sell it and then end the policy. :)
