I had a paper jam in my all in one printer today. When I went to close the lid the hinge broke. I have being getting the run around from HP for about two hours and I have so far got nowhere. They don't have have a complaints department. They seem to have a "stiff poo" attitude.

Dave.

Wont be a problem soon.

HP have stopped making new hardware, and are going to concentrate on software only.

Sorry you've had a bad run with them Dave.
Of all the suppliers we deal with at work, HP are one of the easiest in my experience - but then we're dealing with paid warranties on equipment which is mostly over $1000.

Not that it should matter from a customer service perspective, but was it a cheap unit (ie < $200). If so, I'd consider them to be disposable and I'm pretty sure thats the way HP would be looking at it too - so I'm not surprised you cant get parts etc if thats what you were chasing.
Did you happen to buy it from somewhere that has a good returns policy? Might be an option just to return it if its not too old and you can find the receipt.

Isnt' that only PC's, tablets and phones?
AFAIK other hardware such as printers and servers etc is continuing....

You could well be right there, Steve.

I only got part of the story, and that was that they are stopping hardware, but it may be only specific hardware.

HP have never been HUGE in the software development anyway, unlike Adobe etc.

Sorry to hear that! But, honestly, what do you expect? The printers these days cost as little as two sets of refill cartridges, so they are disposable items, unfortunately. I don't like that either. You will likely have similar problems with other manufacturers as well.

... when "on special" it often seems that the lowest price printers are cheaper than a set of ink cartridges

I found that out ten plus years ago.
Haven't bought a HP product since.

Very true, a few years ago i made the mistake of paying over $200 for a printer/scanner and the genuine cartridges are near enough $100 a set.
Luckily i have found a an ebay seller that sells 3 x full sets for $25 with free postage and they have the ink level chips in them so no more guessing, so far the quality is really good - its a Canon by the way, never had a HP and will never buy another Epson.

This machine cost me $400 a few years back. If the part is no longer available I would be ok with that. My beef is I cannot get a spare parts department that will at least ask me for the details of the machine and exactly what I am after. If they did that and toll me no longer available I would be happy.

When I rang what I thought would be the right place I was told no, you need to ring 1300.... I would ring this and they would say the same and give me another number to ring. I then asked someone if they have a complaints department and I was given another number. This just took me back to an options menu with all the same as when I started.

Grrrrr..... :bat: :censored: .

We can't get the wireless to work on our HP printer. Atempts to get advice about why have proven pointless...
