Gday All,

I have been trying to find how to remove the whole plastic unit that holds the EGR butterfly valve.. It looks straight forward but just wanted to read if there is any hidden parts I cant see, but I cant seem to find this in my D3 manual anywhere.

Can someone please direct me to where it may be or if they have a copy of the page would be great.

Many thanks

Cheers Ean

You may have these - if not they may help

DISCO3.CO.UK - View topic - EGR Valve - How To... (http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic31658.html)

Thanks Garry,

I have that part in my service manual, but its the housing that the 2 EGR pipes go into between the heads that I want to remove, 1 end goes into the air box, the other end has a Y junction just in front of the oil filter on the 2.7ltr.

So Ean, are you removing the plastic inlet manifold , the Y piece , so you can clean out the accumulation of EGR related gunk ?Good idea ,you will be suprised how much is in there !!! Pity your 08 model doent let you remove the EGR system totally .

Gday 400HPONGAS,

Well now that I have a diagnostic reader and the EGR blanking kit I am going to blank the EGR off and see how it goes. Am hoping to do it this weekend, but looks like we have fish boats in , so may be later next week.

I know when I did my D2 I pulled the inlet manifold off and was blown away by how much gunk in the manifold.

Are you sure you can do this on your 08 model ? It will chuck a Hissy fit and you will end up with CEL fault that may escalate into some sort of Limp mode.
So you will pull the Butterfly as well ? Follow the BAS instructions carefully !

There is a bloke on the D3 uk site that has done his 08 model with no faults yet. If it all terns to s... I will just put it back, but to stop the gunk and to get it to breath better and prepared to give it a lash.

Time will Tell.

Yep, my thoughts exactly.I just cant see the point in not cleaning out as much gunk as possible whilst I have most of it apart anyway, thats why I want to remove the whole piece and clean it.

Will keep you informed on how it goes.
