I can't make it short enough to fit.
I'm guessing it's because the tray is off & the rear springs are over extended & they have arced forward ( I can't attach the rear shocks yet either). THere's only 5mm involved.
Or could it be more sinister??

Have you changed from Rover to Salisbury diff? Sals is longer and needs a shorter tail shaft.

are you fouling on the bolts or the flanges?
If you're fouling on bolts
remove the bolts from the diff end, insert and mount the Tcase side then do the diff.
Its also on the cards that your engine/tcase mounts have slopped backwards and have robbed you of the distance you need.

Thnx guys! It's the one I took off.
No changes made. New Toyo uni's fitted.
It fouls on the big nut holding the diff drive flange on.
The propshaft itself seems to be a 2nd hand replacement (it had that yellow marking paint wreckers use with the words "LR Ser 2 Rear").
Can anyone give me length specs that I can check?

You sure that the spline end is not full of old crap grease?
This may prevent the driveshaft from completely compressing.

No it's as clean as!
I'm pretty sure it was the lack of weight in the back.
I got a tyre lever & sprung the diff back & it went on. All shackles etc are loose waiting for the load to go on before I tighten up. That probably didn't help!!

I had similar issue recently when putting DeeDee (S2a) back on the road. Just undo the end that you've already connected up, do the other end first and then do the end you've already got on. Worked for me.

Yeah, right on!
That makes perfect sense as the rear diff, with no load on it, is so "springy" it would have "compressed" when I pushed back from the park brake. The gearbox on the other hand is rigid.
